At North Coast, bringing attendees into the life of the church is accomplished through several hundred “growth groups” that provide deeper spiritual life and relational connection. While small groups are certainly not unusual, what is unusual is the percentage of participation – 85% measure not just by sign ups, but by weekly attendance. The church highly promotes growth group sign ups each quarter from the pulpit, prints a book featuring the various groups and leaders and requires growth group members to sign a covenant each quarter pledging their attendance, encouragement and support of the group. North Coast does no marketing, no outreach events and is housed in an awkward series of warehouse units within an industrial park, yet has managed triple digit growth year after year – a testimony to the power of Sticky Relationships fueled by growth groups.
