Mosaic
Los Angeles
Erwin McManus, Cultural Architect
Mosaic focuses heavily on growing biblical community and as a result, the church retains its many visitors. Part of cultivating biblical community is service, McManus says, who believes that someone who attends, but isn’t serving, will drop out within the year. The church is serious about serving. Volunteers are first trained by one of the church’s 120 leaders. Then, these volunteers are formallly commissioned at an event where they’re anointed with oil and given a Bible to pass on to an unchurched friend. The church commissions attendees to be missionaries abroad and throughout Los Angeles.
